About Natalia Vogeikoff-Brogan

Natalia Vogeikoff-Brogan is the Doreen C. Spitzer Director of Archives. She holds a Ph.D. in Classical and Near Eastern Archaeology from Bryn Mawr College and is a specialist on Hellenistic Crete. She has excavated in many sites, and since 1989 she is a member of the Greek-American excavations at Mochlos (Crete), where she is responsible for publishing the historical periods. In addition to the many articles she has written about Hellenistic and Early Roman Crete, she has co-edited with Kevin Glowacki, a volume titled ΣΤΕΓΑ. The Archaeology of Houses and Households in Ancient Crete (Princeton 2011), and published a monograph, titled: Mochlos III. The Late Hellenistic Settlement. The Beam-Press Complex (Philadelphia 2014). She and Jack L. Davis co-edited in 2012 a volume of essays on Philhellenism, Philanthropy or Political Convenience. American Archaeology in Greece. More recently, she published with Jack Davis and Vivian Florou, another co-edited volume, titled Carl W. Blegen: Personal and Archaeological Narratives (Atlanta 2015). To the lay audience she is known through her blog, From the Archivist’s Notebook, which she created in 2013.

Dr. Vogeikoff-Brogan has directed numerous archival and digitization projects for the School funded by the U.S. Department of Education (D.O.E.), the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Institute for Aegean Prehistory (INSTAP), and the European Union, and has been responsible for the administration and promotion of the ASCSA archival collections.
