Research Topic: Syllabification-Driven Sound Changes in Greek and Indo-European
Paolo is a fifth year PhD candidate in the Program in Indo-European Studies at UCLA. He was trained as a Classical philologist at the University of Bologna (BA 2018, MA 2020) before specializing in Indo-European linguistics during his doctoral studies. His research has focused on Mycenaean Greek and Indo-European
Trümmersprachen (such as Messapic), as well as Aegean scripts and scribal practices. In his dissertation, Paolo investigates the syllabification principles of Ancient Greek as reflected in the linguistic evidence as well as in 2nd- and 1st-millennium-BCE writing practices.
