Research Topic: Through the Eyes of a Child: Children and Domestic Spaces in Ancient Greece
Laurel is a PhD Candidate in the Interdepartmental Program in Ancient Mediterranean Art and Archaeology at the University of Michigan. Her academic interests include ancient domestic spaces, the materiality of everyday life in the ancient world, loom weights and textile production, and social groups not commonly represented in the ancient texts. Her thesis, “Playing House”: Experiencing Childhood in Ancient Greek Houses, investigates the experiences and activities of children in domestic contexts. Laurel has worked on a number of excavations, most recently with the Olynthos Project and the Pella Urban Dynamics Project.
